WE BELIEVE THAT FRANCHISE OWNERSHIP SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN OPTION FOR EVERYONE

The Franchised was created to help the world realise that franchising can be a force for good.

Buying into a franchise model can give people a route to creating a future where they have control of their life, are provided with a new challenge or are able to make a greater impact in society. Because of this potential we want everyone to consider it when they plan to make the next change in their career. The goal is to educate as many people as possible about the opportunities available to them in franchising by using the amazing stories that already exist in the franchising world. We believe that the best way to do this is through sharing inspiring, educational and people focused content through formats that are engaging and grab the attention of the viewer, listener or reader.

Founders Story

After leaving education before University, Founder Ed Purnell found himself working as a labourer for a Marquee Company. It was great, but when he decided it was time to move on to a new challenge the door was closed time and time again, with each company wanting someone with previous experience. He found an opportunity in recruitment during 2008, just before the Lehman crisis caused mass redundancies around the world. Ed found that Managing Directors and CFO were applying for jobs way below their usual pay scale and it's something that stuck with Ed through the years.
Fast forward a few years and now recruiting in the Oil & Gas industry on an international basis, Ed experienced the devastating effect of a specialised industry collapsing. 2014 saw a huge crash in the price of oil and all construction projects stopped. This cased mass redundancies again and these highly skilled workers lived on their pay out until the industry started to recover. It gave Ed the chance to evaluate what he wanted to do with his career and he set his sights on the marketing world. Again, he found that he was labelled a "Recruiter" and design agencies weren't interested. Why would they be? They could find experts for the same salary without the need to educate.
Ed then thought about self employment, but had no idea on how to create a Design Agency from scratch, so headed back to the employed world where he found Franchising through working for international Franchisor, Expense Reduction Analysts. With a discovery of what franchising could have offered to him in his career and all the other people he saw made redundant through no fault of their own, Ed decided that something had to be done. That's when The Disenfranchised Podcast and The Franchised were created - to help others find the opportunities available to them within the franchise industry, that can help them to achieve their career and life goals.
